It's been awhile

It's been over a year since I've posted something. So much has happened in that time. Kailey started Kindergarten in August. She absolutely loves it! She is already learning how to read. I love asking her how her day was. I also love decorating our home with the cute pictures and projects she brings home from school. I am so impressed by the little lady that she's becoming.

After a year of trying, Kenny and I found out that we were pregnant!! On October 4th at 9:11pm Kenny and I were blessed with a beautiful baby girl Jordyn Lee. She weighed 7lbs 15oz and was 20 1/2 inches long.

Two days after she was born she was taken to University of Womens & Children's Hospital where she was diagnosed with Hirschsprung's disease and underwent corrective surgery a week later. 2 months later, she's doing great! She weighs 11 lbs 13 oz and is 23 inches long.

In August, Kenny went with some friends to Sturgis. He spent 7 days camping and riding. He had a blast!! I'm so happy that he was able to go. I plan on going someday.
Last week, he had his third knee surgery. He's doing really well and hoping to be running soon.

As for myself, I'm staying pretty busy. I love my life and although it can be a little stressful, I wouldn't change a thing.

Adopt pets

I found this interesting....

For every person that is born, 15 dogs and 45 cats are also born. In order to keep up with the current flood of puppies and kittens, every person would have to own 2 dogs and 6 catss during their entire lifetime (assuming that people live for 75 yrs and dogs and cats for 10). A household of 5 would have to harbor 10 dogs and 30 cats!

Tomorrow is my first day volunteering at the local animal shelter. I love animals and am so excited to be able to help out and try to find these animals loving homes. I truly believe in adoption rather than buying from breeders. To each his own, but I have found that some of the sweetest dogs and cats have already been born and are waiting for a loving home. Too many good animals are killed every month because they are not adopted. This is so sad to me. How would we feel if this was children? What if a child only had a few months to be adopted? Wouldn't you want to do something about it? Please consider adoption next time you are looking for a pet.

Thanks

Mr & Mrs Rust

On June 20th 2009 my cousin Sara and her fiancee' Hillary were married.

It was a beautiful wedding, very unique. Not much was traditional just the way I knew Sara would have it. Although it was hot outside, the weather was beautiful and everything went great. I am so happy for Sara & Hillary and wish them a wonderful life together.

Tornado Alley

The best way to overcome fear is to face it right? All of my life I have been terrified of tornados. I am not sure why? This morning we had our 2nd tornado touchdown (in a month) about 5 miles from our home. Tornado sirens, 85 mph winds, and a TON of rain is what I woke up to this morning. Surprisingly, I was not scared at all? I feel safe even though we live in tornado alley.

Finished Product

Well, we are all moved into our new home and adjusting to the area well. We finally sign for our home tomorrow. Long story but nothing that we did. Mortgage company was looking out for us and was making sure that the builder was going to finish our landscaping.
Anyway, Kenny will be working out at the ranges on post. He will not be working fulltime so that gives him a chance to go to school. We are both happy about that. I start school in June. I am SO excited!
We miss everyone a lot and hope to see you soon.
