Snow Day

Growing up in Northern Indiana we were used to snow. The city that I grew up in was equipped for snow. The only time that we got out of school was if the weather was extremely cold.

In Kentucky, people literally freak out about a 1/2 inch! This is what my daughter got to "play" in today...

I guess one good thing about moving to Ft. Leonard Wood, MO is, she will be able to build a snowman.

Ice Ice Baby

After waking up this FREEZING this morning to no electricity, I decided to look outside and this is what I saw. My power was back on around 2:30 this afternoon. We're praying that it stays on but tonight is supposed to be a lot worse than today... we will see.

A Military Wife's Poem

I wear no uniforms, no blues or army greens. But I am in the military in the ranks that are rarely seen.I have no rank upon my shoulders. Salutes I do no give, but the military world is the place where I live. I am not in the chain of command orders I do not get, but my husband does this I can not forget. I am not the one who fires the weapon, who puts my life on the line, but my job is just as tough I am the one that is left behind. My husband is a patriot a brave and pride filled man. And the call to serve his country not all understands. Behind the lines I see the things needed to keep this country free. My husband makes the sacrifice, but so do our kids and me. I love the man I married. Soldiering is his life, but I stand among the silent ranks known as the military wife.....

For those of you who don't know me...

I'm a mother to my beautiful daughter Kailey Elizabeth and a wife of almost 5 years to my soul mate Kenny.

My husband is in the Army and is a "lifer." Meaning, he is going to retire from the Army. I love my life as an Army wife. Many do not understand nor will ever understand but that's OK. It takes a special kind of person to what we do.

2oo9 is going to be the year of change. In March we will be packing up and moving 400 miles West to Fort Leonard Wood, MO. It's a bittersweet move because we know we will not move back to this area. We will be stationed at FLW for about 3-4 years. After that, we're heading to Colorado Springs (hopefully).

I recently decided to go back to school to get my degree in Criminal Justice. I have set many goals for 2009 but this is one of the biggest. I am going to get my Bachelors degree and maybe go on for my Masters. I am excited and nervous at the same time. Around the time I graduate, we'll be moving, our kid(s) will both be in or about to be in school and I will be ready for a career!

2009 is going to be a great year!
